Alkoholgæring i 28 dage i cementtanke og efterfølgende lagret 36 måneder på store slavonske fade, efterfulgt af 6 måneder på flaske.

Mørk og tæt rubinrød farve og en stor klassisk duft af læder, tobak, våd skovbund og kirsebær.

Stor og vedvarende smag, med varme og en delikat frugtsødme der bliver holdt perfekt på plads af både tannin og syre.

Til de bedste udskæringer af okse eller kalv, grillet.

Da det sidste medlem af familien Piccolomini i 1985 døde, blev det Giuseppe Bianchini og hans familie der overtog den historiske 1700-tals ejendom i det sydøstlige hjørne af Brunellodistriktet, nærmere betegnet Castelnuovo dell' Abate.

Ejendommen består af 200 hektar landbrugsjord, hvoraf 35 hektar er tilplantet med Sangiovese Grosso, Cabernet sauvignon, Merlot og Syrah. Fra de to vinmarker Fonte og Pianrosso bliver der fremstillet henholdsvis Rosso di Montalcino og Brunello di Montalcino. Ud over disse bliver der fremstillet en IGT vin, ATEO af Sangivose og 30 % Cabernet/Merlot.

'Bright, elegant ruby red. Restrained on the nose, still, with cold smoke and burnt sage. Hearty on the palate with a rich feeling and progression, polished and with creamy tannins. Needs some time in the glass, then comes in several layers: powerful, rich and full, muscular and opulent, flinty.'

'Intense, vibrant aromas of strawberries and raspberries, together with cola and flowery notes. Milk and mint nuances, too. Shows a lot of licorice elegance and blood-orange freshness on both the nose and palate with firm, velvety tannins and well-packed, brilliant acidity and a polished finish. Good aftertaste and amazing potential. Very classic. Drinkable now, but best from 2025.'

'Scuro e profondo al naso mostra note di incenso, sandalo, cumino foglie di tè nero, datteri, bergamotto, china e pepe nero. Tante sfumature di pepe rosa, bacche di ginepro, salvia, alloro, radice di ginseng, camomilla e ginestra descrivono la scena secondaria. Corpo pieno, fresco e balsamico nel sorso mostra tannini perfettamente maturi e polimerizzati ed una bellezza di sorso disarmante. Che bello. Bevi ora o invecchia.'

'Bold and concentrated, the 2020 Pianrosso offers pronounced aromas of dark spice, camphor, dried herb, citrus and wild berry that mingle with new leather. On the powerfully built, savory palate, tightly woven, close-grained tannins envelop liquor-soaked cherry, orange peel, licorice and tobacco before closing on a note recalling almond liqueur. 'The Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona 2020 Brunello di Montalcino Pianrosso (with 43,000 bottles made along with some larger formats) is a little overdone in my opinion in terms of ripeness and its powerful 15.5% alcoholic content. The bouquet reveals dark fruit aromas, cherry liqueur, brandied plum and sweet crème de cassis. This is a thickly grained Brunello with a soft, richly textured core. I recommend a medium-term drinking window, although that touch of tannic astringency might never fully integrate.'

'Freshly split pine, tobacco and stone dust give way to dried strawberries and hints of mint as the 2020 Brunello di Montalcino Pianrosso slowly blossoms in the glass. Silky and serene, this wine is characterised by its cool and fresh acidity, which enlivens the core of the 2020 Brunello di Montalcino with its rich wild berry fruit. A hint of blood orange gives it further gravitas, while it finishes with a surprisingly juicy character, leaving edgy tannins and a pleasantly bitter concentration. This wild child will need cellaring to fully develop, but I'm really looking forward to tasting it again in three to five years.'

'The 2020 is quite opulent, almost heavy, but not without fascination. It smells strongly of rose potpourri, cardamom, balsamic herbs and caramel. The palate is lush and full, with a strawberry compote balanced by a gentle acidity and lingering dusty tannins. This wine will appeal to those looking for a big, opulent Brunello.'
